Breaking the Mold One Bag at a Time

(Written by:      “Emma Logan – freelancer writer on all things fashion and beauty”)

Summer is just ‘round the corner, and we’ve all got the beach on our minds. One designer who’s really embraced the idea of summer fun this season is Mulberry. Influenced by the British seaside, Mulberry combines their signature craftsmanship and fresh, bold colors for a Spring Summer collection reminiscent of candy, arcades and piers.

Just looking at the Holiday Bayswater in lemon sherbet makes one think of sunshine and taffy. The Bayswater bag is Mulberry’s signature style, while the bright hue in a patent leather finish (inspired by English rain macs) and new enamel Postman’s Lock add that bit of holiday whimsy. If you lean towards more traditional colours, fear not, the Bayswater bags in black and brown are still every bit as stylish this season.

Speaking of tradition, nothing says classic British style like Mulberry. In fact, Mulberry is one of the only remaining luxury labels to maintain and invest in a British factory. But that doesn’t mean they’re not willing to break the mold a little.

One of the most coveted bags right now is the Mulberry Mila purse. Symbolizing their departure from the traditional, the Mulberry Tree logo replaces the traditional oval Mulberry plaque on the Mila bags. Both a shoulder bag and a hobo bag are available. The biker-inspired hobo bag has fringe, multi-buckles and D-rings and is made from textured chestnut leather. With a top zip fastening and single strap, it’s both practical and fashion-forward. So toss in your sunglasses and get the season started off right!
